Last weekend constituted a momentary crisis of faith, something I haven't experienced in quite some time. Doubting in my ability to complete a certain job within a tight timeframe and several other mitigating factors led to a dark, stressful and unpleasant weekend.
Ah well. Failure is not an option, but psychopathic eye-rolling and muted gibbering is.
Good stuff during this period has been Goldfrapp's Seventh Tree album, which has to be my favourite of theirs so far and Hercules and Love Song. Both albums providing me with an opportunity to wail along atonally until someone yells shutup and hefts a boot at me.
Also, the photography of Yeondoo Jung, as plugged on Drawn.ca, wherein he takes children's drawings and brings them to life filled most of my afternoon yesterday with a sense of wonder and awe.
Kel left for Rio Thursday morning and heavy fog delayed his flight by six hours. He's missed all three connecting flights needed to get to Rio and overnighted somewhere somehow. The intersection of when I'm awake and he's aware is a mere few seconds of texting before one or the other passes out, so this is all I know about his journey because he is thirteen hours sometime in yesterday.
This has also given me a chance to blat around on Mario Kart Wii. His Kart-racing Fu has always intimidated me, so I'm taking this opportunity to motor around the saccharine loops of frustration and level up in his absence. I'm also hoping that omenode will give it a go as well, despite his misanthropic work schedule, so together we can rule the couch upon Kel's return.
So you managed to get through Yeondoo Jung's website, then? I can't - can't read why, but I suppose it's got something to do with Traffic, since that's what my adress bar says.
You managed to finish your project, then??? I must say, it's nice to know that even those that seems omnipotent to us mere mortals have their days as well... *hugs*
We have Mario Kart too, but so far I've only watched Frank kick ass on it. I scared myself, though, when the thought flashed through my head that Bowser was a hottie.
Ironically, my first childhood crush was Bowser from Sha Na Na.
Goldfrapp? Even more reason to like you even more. Aside from Felt Mountain, that's my favorite album. Not a big fan of "Little Bird" though. Favorite song on the album?
I love the video for "Happiness", seeing the "WTF?" reactions on the faces of the people in the video, and also the way Alison Goldfrapp shows up every so often is rad.
That's odd, I would've thought Little Bird was the most like anything off their first album. Strangely enough, I'm still a sucker for the key change in A&E after abusive repetitive listening. :^)
I dunno, I guess I just wasn't inspired by it. My favorite songs off of Felt Mountain are rather "serious" in tone or bizarre (the song Pilots is my favorite from it. They also did an awesome video for that song too).
My favorite thing about A&E is how the song builds and finishes with strumming of an acoustic guitar.
You rock. Seventh tree is my 'Album of the year'... I totally love the psychodelia of little bird and cerrone Houdini... then again, I think she can do not wrong. You rock otherwise.
