Yay! Thanks for that - now I just need to get the whole Star Wars slash Skating community behind it :^D
Sounds like your shoes are trying to take advantage of you. Toe-rape? I can only imagine the colors as you've described. Perhaps they can make a cameo in the knee-comic. :"D
Dood, the second part sounds amazing. Really. I totally understand the 'not knowing what to do' part. Given the opportunity.. damn! Again, this is pretty damned cool for you. Couldn't be happier. I bet it makes for a more fun house, too.
I'm only running out of good wishes for you. Can't wait to hear what you come up with.
These new runners look like they're made out of jockstraps - why is sportswear so ugly??!!
I certainly feel more relaxed about the future, while at the same time utterly excited at the prospect. This should be a fun journey! *82*
Wow ... I totally envy you. I'm in the same boat, just scrambling to take whatever piss-ant jobs I can bring in just to keep us afloat and pay the bills month to month. My dream is to be doing more targeted work along the lines of what I'm good at and enjoy doing rather than forcing myself into a mold of what low-budget business contacts are willing to pay me to do. :P
Someday, maybe someday ....

I managed to stay afloat through perseverance and great client relationships, now I can take out much of the business micromanagement that sapped my illustrating time. I feel privileged to have been headhunted, and I'll never question the power of the internet again!
Congrats to you, you've certainly earned it! :)
Naw, that's not boring, that's awesome. While many dream of being their own boss, when you're having to live hand over fist (or at least take what you can get), having others handle the business so you can be creative is usually better (at least *I* think so).
I don't mind being my own industry, I've encountered far too many shoddy bosses in positions they had no right to hold. And yeah, this frees up parts of my time that would otherwise be dedicated to negotiation, management and other not-illustrating business practices.
Do you get to pick your own hours, or is it an 8 - 5 (or whatever is the typical start and end time of most jobs in Australia)?
I can pick and choose from the jobs they throw my way. Most often the client will ask for me directly, but I don't quite have that sort of presence in the agency yet.
That is great to hear. It's so clear you really love what you do already, I can't imagine how excited you are that you're being given the reigns to steer your own path.
What are jubes?
Yay! Thanks! The promotional aspects of this opportunity are staggering as well, I'd've never managed to present myself as well as this agency is doing already!
Jubes are a soft lolly, um, you'd know it as a gummy maybe?
Cool on the new shoes!
They have agencies for art???!!! Oh man..I've just been doing stuff..and chucking it up on the internet...hoping it will sell..Best of luck figuring out what you want your focus to be...I know that will be a hard thing to decide.
Agencies...ah man...hrrrm...how does that work? Do they find you jobs? Is is really helpful to have one?
Gotta say way to go, Mutley! Having someone else to the job hunting and all the money crap is a boon to your time and energy. Now, being able to focus on your long-term goals, you have a world of choices. I have no doubt that you're gonna go far, and have a great time getting there.
That's great- I'm really, really jealous and happy for you. I guess that's what Recognized Talent looks like.
Keep it up!!! And if those trainers let you figure out your path, don't take them off... much. C8
I know I've already told you this IRL, but I'm so happy for you finding such great agency representation, matey. Your success is well deserved, and this next step is really exciting. ♥ |
